Alaska Rainbow Lodge - Celebrating 40 Years of Adventure

Friends, die-hard anglers, and fishing enthusiasts,

As we pull in the docks on our 40th season at Alaska Rainbow Lodge , we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible memories, adventures, and friendships that have been forged here on the Kvichak.

Our journey began 40 years ago when founder, Ron Hayes, had a vision of creating a place where anglers and adventurers could experience the raw beauty and thrilling fishing opportunities in JUST the right location. His passion and dedication laid the foundation for what Alaska Rainbow Lodge has become today. Ron, we are endlessly grateful for your vision. Chip and I will continue to fly the same flag of creating memories and incredible adventures for our guests.

This season was truly special as we also bid a fond retirement farewell to our beloved Chief Pilot, Kenneth Strickler, who dedicated over 20 years to this lodge, our guests, and ensuring everyone’s safety. Thank you, Ken, for your loyalty, work ethic, the most colorful language, and countless flights (though I know YOU know the number). You have gone above and beyond as both a mentor and a friend. You absolutely will be missed.

To our guests- Thank you for being a part of our Alaska Rainbow Lodge family. Your enthusiasm and passion for fishing, adventure, and flying fuel our spirit year after year. Here’s to 40 incredible seasons, and many more to come!

See you in 2024 for more fishing, exploring, and unforgettable moments in the heart of Bristol Bay. We can’t wait to welcome you back to our slice of fishermen’s paradise!

Rustic Elegance in Remote Alaska

This past off-season Alaska Rainbow Lodge has done extensive remodeling of the lodge, cabins, and accommodations. Our Bristol Bay lodge offers a variety of housing options so that you can enjoy an ideal fishing experience. The beautiful Alaska land on the banks of the Kvichak River that Alaska Rainbow Lodge is situated on is home to a 4,600 square foot main building and three duplex cabins. The larger main lodge is made up of five bedrooms which sleep two each, as well as a spacious kitchen, dining room, luxurious lounge, and living room area. If you prefer more privacy when you return to the lodge from your days reeling in Alaska trophy fish, choose from one of our cozy duplex cabins. These accommodations are comfortably carpeted and soundproofed so you can experience pure relaxation. Take advantage of the full private bath and fully controllable heating and air conditioning. Our lodge and cabins offer fishers the most modern rooming available.

Spotlight River

NAKNEK RIVER

The Naknek River is a 35-mile stream that feeds into Kvichak Bay and is best known for its vibrant sockeye population. The Naknek headwaters originate within the Katmai National Park and Preserve, meaning your catch comes from a protected and pristine environment that provides an unscathed breeding ground for trophy salmon making their way towards your fly.
