by Michael Bales – Head Guide for Alaska Rainbow Lodge
We are almost halfway through the 2014 fishing season at Alaska Rainbow Lodge. We have been busy catching lots of fish with our customers here in beautiful Bristol Bay. The sockeye migration is well underway and they have made their way throughout the region. You can read more about it at the following link http://www.adn.com/article/20130627/bristol-bays-sockeye-season-starts-strong. The Kukaklek drainage which supports a major rainbow trout population on rivers such as Moraine Creek, Funnel Creek and Little Ku is loaded with sockeyes which should make for some more EXCELLENT trout fishing in August and September.
The Family fishing special is NOW available for the 2015 season – Check it out on the ARL website, there are some great weeks of fishing for Kings in the early season as well as trout and char.
Rainbow trout fishing has been excellent this year!
Getting ready to go fishing on the Big Ku. We are one of the only lodges in the area with a jet boat for use on this great fishery.
A nice fly caught king from a SECRET river near the Mulchatna drainage.
Don’t forget, we still have Ron Hayes’ old stories from the early days in Alaska up on the website, You can read them on our home page under “Ron’s Alaska Stories“. And finally, as always, you can call us ANYTIME if you have questions about visiting us here on the Kvichak River in Bristol Bay. We would love to hear from you!
