Did you come fish with us this year? If not, you missed one of the greatest King Salmon fishing seasons on record for guests of Alaska Rainbow Lodge. It was truly fantastic and another one for the books.

What you may not know is that, every year, one of our guides camps out for over a month on the banks of the Nushagak River to study the tides and monitor the King Salmon runs. That means when our guests arrive, our guides and boats are prepped and ready to go the moment the plane lands.

And boy did it pay off this year. We saw numerous 40-inch Kings landed on a regular basis. If you’ve never tangled up with one of these beasts, you have no idea what you’re missing. If you’re one of our guests who did land one of these trophies, it is, without a doubt, the one fish you will talk about for years.

The same can also be said for our Silver Salmon and Rainbow Trout seasons. The American and upper Kvichak Rivers were simply sensational for huge Rainbow Trout. Our guests landed several 27- to 28-inch trophy bows on these amazing rivers. Some 30-inchers were hooked but, unfortunately, all of them made one giant leap and shook the hook. As always, the Kamichak was excellent for Silvers and Char. And the Moraine Creek and the Little Ku rivers were outstanding fisheries for hard hitting, hard fighting bows in huge numbers.

Nice catch in Alaska

All in all, it was a season to remember. And reason enough for you to begin planning your Alaska fishing trip for 2014. We’re currently running a special on our website for the month of June. It’s a pretty incredible deal, so let me encourage you to look at the dates that are available, because when they’re booked, they’re gone!

As always, thank you for fishing with us. We’ll see you in Alaska in 2014!
