by Michael Bales – Head Guide for Alaska Rainbow Lodge
We have started the season off here at ARL with some of the most beautiful weather we have had in a long time. We are in our third week of fishing and the lodge is full of happy guests, some who have fished with us many times and some great new folks as well. Daytime temperatures have been in the high 50’s to mid 60’s for the start of our 2014 season making for some great days of fishing for the King Salmon, Rainbow Trout and Arctic Char that Bristol Bay is known for. Our Nushagak River King Camp is up and running with people catching some spectacular fish!
We have also been fishing our other rivers in the area such as Lower American Creek, BigKu, Featherly Creek and Brooks river just to name a few. All of our returning veteran guides – Jose Marti, Nigel Barrow, Michael Dragon, Dac Collins and Thomas Rodriguez know where to find them. They have been guiding these waters for years and are experts at putting our clients on fish.
