Alaska Fishing Trips for Rainbow Trout & Salmon
Get ready to experience a world-class Alaska Fishing Trip with Alaska Rainbow Lodge.
Our Alaska fishing trips for Rainbow Trout & Salmon are full of variety. Depending on the river, the season, and the weather our fishing spots are located within a 10-50 minute boat ride from the lodge. Or, a short 15-25 minute flight in one of our 3 Beaver floatplanes.
Great Variety of Water for Rainbow Trout & Salmon
While enjoying one of our Alaska fly fishing trips you’ll hike many of the smaller streams, trying different runs and holes throughout the day. Some of our more fantastic fishing spots will require a short, easy walk. We also have longer adventurous hikes for those looking to explore rugged Alaskan beauty. These are the true wilderness streams where it’s unusual to see another fisherman. We take small rafts on some of the mid-size rivers, which allows floating long sections of the river.
We fish by wading, drifting, casting, or plugging. You can fly fish or use conventional gear; that’s up to you. There are streams that are protected as fly fishing areas only, and there are rivers that allow either fly fishing or the use of spinning tackle. Alaska Rainbow Lodge guides practice fly fishing only for Rainbow Trout, Arctic Char, & Grayling, and all are catch and release.
Depending on the time of year, you’ll find yourself catching King salmon, Silver salmon (Coho), Sockeye salmon, Chum salmon and Pink salmon (Humpback) and a few rainbow trout.

Experts and Novices are Welcome
We have water and fishing opportunities to satisfy every skill level. Experienced anglers will appreciate the variety and challenges of the different streams and waters that we fish.
We are very pleased to provide fly tying and casting instruction to first-timers or beginning anglers. We’ve taught many a guest who had never touched a fly rod before. We’ll teach casting basics and have you (if you wish) tie a fly or two. Then we’ll go out on the water.
We provide rods, reels, flies, waders and boots for those who prefer to use our equipment. However, if you wish to bring your own gear you’re welcome to do so. See the What to Bring on Your Alaska Fishing Trip section for further details.
Should you want even more variety and excitement fly fishing Alaska, we have three float-equipped 6-passenger DeHavilland Beaver aircrafts and charters can be arranged that will take you right from the lodge to fish nearby pristine and rarely fished lakes and streams.
We also operate forty river boats. We have boats on fourteen different streams. We also operate six float rafts. Alaska Rainbow Lodge operates two 22 ft. inboard jet cabin cruisers – equipped with 6 suspension seats. These boats are used to take our guests from our lodge to the famous flats of the Kvichak River.
